Welcome to my Honors Portfolio!

Hello! My name is Aaron Reyes (he/him) and I am a graduating senior in the Honors Program at the University of Washington-Seattle. I am originally from Tacoma, WA and have lived in the Pacific Northwest my entire life. Completing my journey here at UW has been an incredibly meaningful experience. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in Education, Learning & Society which has provided me with a combination of my passions for educational equity and mental health advocacy.

Throughout my time at UW, my academic interests have deeply evolved around supporting multilingual learners and students who face language and systemic inequality barriers in education. Through both my coursework and community engagement, I have seen firsthand how critical it is to bridge the gap between psychological support and inclusive education. I am dedicated to developing culturally sustaining practices that uplift students from diverse backgrounds, particularly within lower income communities.

On campus, finding my community was pivotal to my growth. I became deeply involved in RSO's like M.E.Ch.A. (Movimiento Estudantil Chicano de Aztlán) and Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc., a Latine focused fraternity. These spaces have taught me to break out of my shell, advocate for myself, and learn how to navigate higher education with a community that looks like me.

Now, I am incredibly excited to take the next step in my journey. Following graduation, I will be attending Seattle University to pursue my graduate studies and train to become a School Psychologist. I am eager to take everything I've learned from my time at UW and incorporate it into a career dedicated to creating equitable, supportive, and linguistically inclsuive school envirnments where all students can thrive.
